Review of instruments for evaluation of nursing care quality in inpatient care
Keywords:

Aim. Presentation of instruments for evaluation of the nursing care quality in inpatient care based on international literature.
Results. QualPaCs scale (QualPaCs - The Quality of Patient Care Scale) allows for the evaluation of the quality of care of a patient from the bio-psychological and social aspects. The T. Langford method or RMI-MSV instrument (Rush Medicus Nursing Process Quality Monitoring Instrument) may serve the same purpose. The quality of patient care in the area of health promotion may be assessed by means of the EQUIHP instrument (European Quality Instrument for Health Promotion). For the evaluation of long-term care, the InterRAI questionnaire may be used, and in nursing homes - OIQ instruments (Observable Indicators Quality). The quality of nursing care of oncologic patients may be assessed by means of the OPPQNCS scale (Oncology Patients' Perception of the Quality of Nursing Care Scale), in the terminal phase – by the PQLI instrument (Palliative Care Quality of Life Instrument), while in urgent cases – by the CECSS scale (Consumer Emergency Care Satisfaction Scale), and from the aspect of proper interpersonal nurse-patient relationships – with the use of the NQS scale (Nursing Quality Scale). A reliable tool for the evaluation of the quality of nursing care within seven days of the week is the BERNCA instrument (Basel Extent of Rationing of Nursing Care), whereas an optimum instrument for the assessment of the level of nursing care in hospital wards is the BOHIPSZO questionnaire.
Conclusions. The review of instruments for the evaluation of the quality of nursing care in a hospital ward shows that the BOHIPSZO questionnaire is the optimum instrument.
