Abstract

The enormous amount of information available and the many uses one can have through the internet have made it the most valua-ble tool in each settings of a person’s life. Thus, not suprisingly the use of the Internet for medical, healthcare and health-related informa-tion is also large and still growing. Advanced Internet technology available today allows users (patients, caregivers, family and friends, and potential patients) to active participation in generating website contents (Health 2). In this paper we discuss an online project designed and managed by TacyJakJa.pl website within its section After psychotic crisis (which is dedicated to people experiencing psychotic crisis). Registered users of the website are offered a simple and convenient self-assesment tool to monitor their functional status in the form of an e-diary. E-diaries were designed by physicians for the purpose of self-assessment of: everyday activities, self-care, social contacts, physical acivity, professional life, mood level, mental status; an e-diary serves also as a convienient tool for treatment and its tolerability self-monitoring. Updating questionaire data on a regular basis automatically generate graphs that allow users to observe dynamics and the trends in their health and well-being status with a longer time frame and perspective. In 18 months period 450 people registered on the website, and 80% of them experienced psychotic symptoms. Results of the project indicate that the user registration process is fast and easy, and no problems connected with fillinig out an e-diary were reported. Cumulative data of e-diaries can become an important source of relevant information that could be useful in the-rapeutic decision making.
