The essence of the categorization of deliveries

Abstract

Introduction. Problems of human childbirth for centuries have enjoyed a great deal of interest of  representatives from different areas of human knowledge . The images concerning this subject can be found for example in films, literature, humanities (philosophy, history, psychology, sociology) and natural sciences (biology, medicine). The birth of man has always been and will be an event not so much individual as having a much broader meaning of: biological, anthropological, social, cultural, religious, economic, legal, psychological, medical, and familial nature. 
Material gathered by the authors includes a categorization of the labours proposed by the representatives of medical science and psychology. The presented article is an attempt to present this topic from the perspective of various professionals, and the description of the elements being the lenses of their  look at issues of labor is intended  for reflection of those people who have influence on its quality. 

Aim and method. The aim of the study is to show the essence of the categorization and classification of births that allow for formalization of the linguistic area, which is used by persons caring for a woman in travail. The method used in this study is a critical analysis of available literature in question. 

Results. The available literature on the subject gives the classification of deliveries made in the medical terms (e.g., birth-on-time, threatening premature labor), although you can see some differences in the content presented by various authors. Fewer studies concern the classification, including: the types of behavior women giving birth (exhilarating, anxiety, task, mentally inert, passive and active parturition), use of non-pharmacological techniques to facilitate childbirth (using the vertical position, using water immersion), place of delivery (hospital, home, street), presence (or absence) of supporting people  (in a non-professional way) during the birth pangs (the close  persons, Doula). 
It seems clear that some uniform nomenclature for the delivery will be beneficial not only for medical but also educational purposes.
