Congenital listeriosis and its consequences – case report
Keywords:
listeriosis, mental disordersAbstract
The article discusses the case of a 22-year-old patient with a congenital Listeria monocytogenes infection. Somatic and psychopa-thological outcomes of the past infection are analyzed. Suspected onset of a schizophrenic process has been excluded. Unspecified organic personality and behavioural disorders caused by disease, impairment or dysfunction of the brain (F07.9) resulting from the past neuroinfection have been diagnosed. The necessity to consider Listeria monocytogenes in the etiology of congenital infections in new-borns has been emphasized.
