Wiedza, postawy i przekonania na temat terapii elektrowstrząsowej wśród polskich studentów

Wstęp. Terapia elektrowstrząsowa (EW) jest skuteczną i bezpieczną metodą leczenia wielu zaburzeń psychicznych. Mimo to, postawy wobec EW są negatywne, zaś wykorzystanie tej metody w Polsce spada.
Cel. Celem pracy było zbadanie wiedzy i nastawienia wobec terapii elektrowstrząsowej wśród studentów polskich uczelni, w tym studentów medycyny, psychologii oraz innych kierunków.
Materiał i metody. Wykorzystano autorski, internetowy kwestionariusz zawierający 39 pytań, który został rozpowszechniony wśród studentów różnych kierunków. Ankietę wypełniło 418 respondentów. Zebrane dane poddano analizie statystycznej.
Wyniki. Zaobserwowano istotne braki w wiedzy oraz negatywne przekonania dotyczące terapii elektrowstrząsowej wśród polskich studentów. Studenci medycyny i psychologii posiadali większą wiedzę i bardziej pozytywne przekonania na temat tej metody leczenia, niż studenci innych kierunków. Większa wiedza na temat terapii związana była z bardziej pozytywną postawą wobec niej. Głównym źródłem wiedzy o EW dla studentów medycyny i psychologii były wykłady i kursy, zaś dla studentów innych kierunków - filmy. Studenci, którzy rozważali psychiatrię jako swoją przyszłą specjalizację, posiadali mniejszą wiedzę i bardziej negatywne nastawienie do EW w stosunku do reszty badanych.
Wyniki. Istnieje potrzeba interwencji edukacyjnych, które zmienią postrzeganie terapii elektrowstrząsowej zarówno w opinii publicznej, jak i w środowisku medycznym. Skutecznym rozwiązaniem wśród studentów medycyny może być obserwacjazabiegu włączona do programu studiów.
